SEMOpx
In June 2015, SONI Ltd were designated by the Utility Regulatory (UR) as a Nominated Electricity Market Operator (NEMO) for Northern Ireland. At the same time EirGrid plc were designated by the Commission for Regulation of Utilities (CRU) as a NEMO for Ireland. Since October 2022, the NEMO designation has become permanent. The NEMO designations allow SONI Ltd and EirGrid plc to provide day-ahead auction and intraday markets for trading in the Single Electricity Market (SEM). SONI Ltd and EirGrid plc have developed and implemented the NEMO services for Northern Ireland and Ireland through SEMOpx, a contractual joint venture between SONI Ltd and EirGrid plc. This allows the use of common systems, processes and resources to provide NEMO services to both Northern Ireland and Ireland.
SEMOpx is licensed and regulated cooperatively by the CRU in Ireland and the UR for Northern Ireland. SEMOpx have offices in Belfast and Dublin.

European Commodity Clearing AG (ECC) is the leading clearing house for commodities and products in Europe and beyond. Founded in 2006 ECC is part of the EEX group and assumes the clearing and settlement services for many European power exchanges including SEMOpx.
