Dear Member,

Please be informed that Nominated Electricity Market Operators (NEMOs) engaged together with Market Parties in the Market Coupling Consultative Group (MCCG) on the reconsideration of the second auction process within the Single Day-Ahead Coupling (SDAC) auction.  

Following this consultation NEMOs concluded that second auctions are not a reliable safety measure for market participants, even in the case of bidding mistakes. This is because the price thresholds required to trigger the second auction are rarely met, as most bidding errors do not push prices high enough to activate the process. As a result of the consultation, the second auction process will be decommissioned with effective date 29^th January 2025 (first trading day) for delivery date 30^th January 2025 for SDAC countries.

An ETS maintenance, in the Production environment, will take place on the 28^th January 2025 from 21:30 GMT to 23:30 GMT.
